Learning, Education and Tours
We cater for all ages - from school trips through to group and personal tours; the content would vary according to your needs.
For schools, we offer curriculum opportunities which cover:
- Norman Castles: styles, purpose, siege and defence.
- Life in medieval Wales.
- The Lords of Gower, Welsh princes and their impact on British history.
- Fairy tales, storytelling using play and movement.
Trips are currently half-day sessions (10.00am - 12.00pm and 12.30-2.30pm). Bookings are welcome for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during term times. We accommodate up to 35 pupils per session plus teachers and parent helpers. The charge is currently £4 per pupil.
For adults and groups:
- Unannounced groups (up to 15 people) charged individually at normal entry prices (£6). Tours are offered for an extra charge at Friends' discretion (£7.50 with a tour).
- For larger groups, please contact the Oystermouth Castle Development Co-ordinator (07557 481467) to book in advance (£4 / head or £5.50 with tour). Please consider your needs for the tour and we'll do our best for you.
Individuals and families:
- There are free tours (after admission) on Wednesdays and Fridays with additional tours on Sundays during school holidays. There are two per day - 11.30 and 2.25. The average time is (about) 45 minutes per tour. However, many visitors get so fascinated that there are many questions (which we like) so could take longer.
